Sticker Placement on a 5’12”

The “Sticker Placement” Disaster at Kool Kind Glassing

In this hilarious two-page feature, Bob Penuelas explores the gap between surf vanity and actual performance. Frustrated by his lack of progress on his “lame old board,” Wilbur heads to Kool Kind Glassing to commission a custom masterpiece. The comedy peaks as Wilbur tries to impress a grizzled, unimpressed shaper with a flurry of contradictory technical jargon. Despite demanding a board that is “strong but light” and “loose but responsive,” Wilbur eventually receives a craft that rides perfectly. However, in true Wilbur fashion, the session is ruined not by the rocker or the rails, but by the “wrong” sticker placement.

When “looking cool” matters more than “ripping hard”—Wilbur’s custom board debacle.
